The Harbinger is our first centrifugal supercharger kit. It is a modern take to an affordable and reliable high performance option designed for the 6-cylinder BMW M50, M52, M54, S50, S52 & S54 engines. Meant for a daily street car that may also see occasional track use. The kit itself can support the Speedmaster P2 Centrifugal Supercharger.

This supercharger system supports a wide range of classic and Neo-modern BMW models such as the BMW E34, E36, E38, E39, E46, E83 X3, E85, E53 X5, E60, E61, E65, E66, Z3, Z4 models as well as Wiesmann MF 30 (2000- 2002) and Land Rover Defender (1997-2000).

HARBINGER SUPERCHARGER KIT

Our first centrifugal supercharger kit, The Harbinger was developed in house by K.C. Design Concepts between 2020 – 2022 and finally released in 2023. Built out of air craft grade aluminum, the kit is based on the affordable Speedmaster P2 Centrifugal Supercharger, rated at 1150CFM and some 55,000 RPM ceiling from the manufacturer. The P2 Supercharger is a dry unit with no lubrication required. The Harbinger is a modern take to an reliable high performance solution for enthusiasts who want a compact and affordable centrifugal option for the BMW M50, M52, M54, S50, S52, S54 engines.

The Harbinger is ideal for a daily street car as well as a car that sees occasional track use. Currently available in its 2nd generation, this setup features our custom machined COG pulley and machine belt drive ensures the supercharger itself maintains a fixed ratio, limiting the supercharger to 30,500 RPM maximum while utilizing the factory belt drive, which allows you to preserve all the original stock belt driven engine accessories as the alternator, power steering, air conditioner, all in their original position.

NOTES:

  • On the E46 and E38 and E39 you will be required to relocate your radiator reservoir or use a E36 or aftermarket radiator for space issues.
  • There are 2 different types of Speedmaster P2 Centrifugal Superchargers, Generation 1 and Generation 2. Variations include 2 mounting bolt holes that are moved 5mm away in the P2 Generation 2. Ensure to read through the notes to know which one you have, as our kit was originally designed for Generation 1. If you have a Generation 2 P2 Centrifugal Supercharger then you must either settle for not using the 2 bolt holes out of the 4 mounting holes we offer or drill 2 extra holes onto our bracket, slightly slotting it.
  • The Supercharger is not included in the kit unless ordered separately from us, you are advised to use the given part number for the supercharger and order the supercharger locally.
  • LF30 power steering pump and pulley from M52 or M54 engines
  • With the stock Hyde Motor Works 130mm Supercharger drive pulley, we recommend an an air to air intercooler and limiting the boost to under 10 PSI, using a boost controller and a bypass valve. For higher boost, you will have to rebuild the P2 Centrifugal Supercharger with new bearings and use any available Hyde Motor Works overdrive pulley made for the driving the P2 Centrifugal Supercharger. The stock engine should not be pushed beyond 10PSI.*

 

To complete the installation on any of the setups, you will also require the following additional parts:

  • Speedmaster P2 Centrifugal Supercharger with recommended accessories (check the technical specifications for part numbers)
  • an Intercooler Kit with silicone pipes and hose clamps (can be sold separately)
  • LF30 power steering pump and pulley from M52 or M54 engines (if installing on the M50 with LF20 power steering pump)
  • vacuum hose
  • an high flow air filter
  • a boost gauge
  • a recirculating by pass valve and
  • boost controller (for stock engines)
  • proper tune.

Notes:

The Harbinger kit supports only the HB-1 / P2 unit, which is the Speedmaster P2 Centrifugal Supercharger (MPN: PCE157.1002).
