After our brief hiatus in Spring, we kick off the summer season by welcoming you back with the Featured Supercharged Build of the Month of June! This time we have something different, and that is a Supercharged Nissan Micra from Hungary! We appreciate all auto enthusiasts, not just ones who drive BMW's. When we were reached by David about supercharging his Nissan Micra, we were eager to be a part of this build! David is from Budapest, Hungary. And this is his pocket rocket build based on a K11 1.4L (CGA3DE engine) Nissan Micra, which originally came from the factory with some 82 HP. When we asked David about why he wanted to supercharge this cute little machine, he had the following to say: “I only know about one turboed Micra in Hungary. People here only use it as the cheapest form of transportation. The most common budget tuning are usually Suzuki Swifts here.” And as we see, David's friendly kitty loves the supercharger as well! #SuperchargedCats! It was the first week of May, when they finished the tuning of the car! Using a unit from MaxxECU for all its tuning needs, the system powered by the AMR500 generated a maximum of 110 WHP. That is close to 130HP at the crank when you account for 15-20% drive train loses. Coming from some 82HP on the stock engine, this is easily a 50-60% power gain. According to David, the car starts to pull now from 2500 all the way to 6500. A character found on twin screw and roots type supercharger systems. The car also features launch control that holds at 4000, then switches the function off at a certain speed after launching. David initially reached out and explained to us what he was trying to do. He did however pose us with a challenging question, which is that there are many AMR 500 online to order from for less than our price, but they "may" also come with customs and taxes (and also defects). He asked us to convince him why should he order from us. We told David we can't think of a better reason to buy from us other than perhaps our company lawyer and good friend of ours, Peter, who also happens to come from Hungary. Okay that may not be the best reason to buy it. ;-) - So to top it off, we get our superchargers in reconditioned state from Japan and offer a warranty period. Hows that for a good reason! To sum it up, David is meanwhile a friend of the Hyde Motor Works team and when we do head east, towards Budapest this year, we will drop by for a ride in his Micra. For those of you interested, Davids the Micra K11 1.4 - 2002 setup is the following: - Hyde Motor Works AMR 500 Supercharger - BC Racing BR RA coilovers - Japan Racing JR 29 wheels - Toyo Proxes TR1 tyres - Factory size Brembo rotor and pads…

Spring is near and we have our featured build of March! Coming your way is this Silver Supercharged E36 328i from France! Owned and built by Antoine Leroy from Chartres, France. He was a avid biker whom after a motorbike accident was left with the use of only one arm, but he didn’t give up. He shifted his motoring hobbies and added two more wheels to it! Powered by a Hyde Motor Works V3 Supercharger Kit and the infamous SR1 Manifold, this car is using the Eaton M90 supercharger that pushes out 11PSI with an air to air intercooler on the stock M52B28 engine. Putting down enough power in the lower end to leave a E46 M3 screaming on top of its cast aluminum lungs, a few car lengths behind! The featured V3 supercharger setup itself is capable of a maximum of 14PSI of boost with an air to air intercooler, while maintaining its efficiency range. This E36 328i started its life as a regular automatic and was something of a daily driver, which slowly shaped into what it is today, a Supercharged Silver Speed Machine! Used now mostly as a track toy. Over the years Antoine did numerous modifications to this car, including a 5-speed manual transmission, which the reader will see from the video, Antoine shifts much better than most people who have an arm to spare, and his competitive climbing hobby explains a lot of that sheer determination! Almost all the work on this car was by Antoine himself and his buddy, a jolly English Pitbull called Bimmer! Antoine plans to run a M1 REV 2 Kit this year. He is well known by us here at Hyde Motor Works as him and his Pitbull Bimmer have visited us a few times in Stuttgart, Germany. And it is our pleasure to be able to present his build. Here is a feature length video of Antoine driving his ultimate supercharged driving machine in the French countryside below!

Featured Supercharged Build of January 2023

We start the new year with a new build! We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season. Today, we are back with our featured build of the month, January 2023. This custom purple colored Supercharged E46 330i drift machine is owned by Logan Roecker hailing all the way from Nebraska. Logan has been drifting for almost 8 Years now, always with the stock 230HP M54B30 engine under the hood. Logan doesn't take it easy on his car, as one can see from his many videos posted. Upon a closer look at the car, you will notice the numerous repairs Logan had done on the fly to his little bad boy which is now Supercharged using a Hyde Motor Works V3 Supercharger Kit. Around August of 2021 Logan reached out to us, among his lines were “Always thinking of more power and how I want a super charger…. the 3L engine (M54B30) lacks in some areas where I need it the most and with gearing I can only do so much.” As most readers already know, unlike a Turbo system although more efficient for peak power, requires to spool up and will typically only deliver power at the higher RPM ranges. While a Roots or Twin-Screw supercharger delivers instant torque and power. This means the power band and power delivery of a supercharged engine is very linear, thus a lot of torque and power is available from the down low through out the rev-range. Logan was passionate about it, he said he was in, so were we. After some consultation we decided on the V3 Supercharger system, a setup that uses the Eaton M90 roots supercharger. This system is capable of delivering up to 12-13PSI with an air to air intercooler with the proper pulley sizing. Meaning an almost double the HP increase in theory to the crank if the Supercharger is pushed to the limits of its efficiency and airflow. Logan started his build around Spring 2022. Upon commencing the build, we found out he was sent an early prototype version of the Kit. During that time, we were also experiencing delivery issues with our SR1 Manifold, which is meant to be used with the kit. However, Logan overcame it all, He used a Manifold from the Diesel M56 engine, which is a modified version based on the BMW M54. Then with a little help from us, Logan had this whole system up and running and ready for summer! Logan, who is better known as Camel to his friends or Camel Drift on Instagram, is part of a drift team, he has won first and second places in a couple of Drift Championships. He also runs his own Instagram Channel where he likes to post videos covering his builds, modifications and raw footage from Drift Events where he participates. We have a new video now featuring Logan's E46 with the Hyde Motor Works V3 Supercharger kit in the Kansas City Drift Association 3rd Annual Monster Bash in 2022 below!
