THROTTLE CABLE EXTENSION KIT

This is a custom made Mechanical Throttlebody Cable Extension Kit. This Throttle Cable Extension Kit was designed originally for the classic BMW cars using our supercharger kits and require the throttle linkage to be extended to allow the throttle body to be put upstream / before the intake of the supercharger.

Although our Throttle Cable Extension Kit can be used on different cars with mechanical linkage, its recommended to read over the detailed specifications below and check if its what you need for your project.

INSTALLATION

The new extension cable completely eliminates the original inner cable. Basically all you’re doing is reuse the outer jacket and extending the length of the outer jacket so that it can reach the new position of the throttle body. And replacing the inner cable with a longer one

Start by cutting the inner cable. Then remove the end off of the accelerator pedal and pull the entire inner cable out of the jacket.
Next you will cut the 90° metal tube off of the engine side of the outer jacket. Use a small pic in that end of the outer jacket to make sure that the center opening is round and clear.
Pull the plastic adjuster off of the metal tube. You will be reusing that.

In the kit you will find a length of outer jacket. And a short piece of stainless steel tubing. Place the stainless steel tubing over the original outer jacket, halfway and use a pair of diagonal cutters to put a slight indentation in the metal to to keep it in place on the original outer jacket. Then put one of the short pieces of heat shrink tubing, over the metal tubing and the original outer jacket. The heat shrink tubing should only cover half of the stainless steel sleeve, and continue on to the original outer jacket. Use a heat gun to seal the outer jacket to the stainless steel tubing.

Next used the supplied outer jacket extension piece, install it in the other end of the stainless steel tubing. That piece should reach the throttle cable bracket on the throttle body. Plus a little extra. Cut the outer jacket extension cable to length. Check to make sure the openings in each end are unobstructed. Use a small pick if necessary.

Next install the other short piece of heat shrink tubing. Heat both of the short pieces so that they are sealed. Then slide the long piece of heat shrink tubing over the entire connection and heat till it is sealed.

Put the original cable adjuster onto the end of the outer jacket extension. And into the throttle cable bracket.
Now install the inner cable till it is seen under the dashboard by the accelerator pedal. Use the appropriate cable stop to connect the inner cable the accelerator pedal.
Then use the appropriate cable stop to connect the other end of the inner cable to the throttle body. And cut off the excess.

Now you can use the adjuster to take up any slack.
